Colt's Combat Elite Government is a Series 80 1911 in .45 ACP with a stainless steel frame and a 5-inch stainless barrel, finished two-tone with polished slide flats. It weighs 36 ounces, measures 8.5 inches overall and holds 8+1 from the single magazine supplied. Novak LoMount night sights sit on the slide, the thumb safety is cut for both hands, the grip safety is standard 1911, the trigger is solid aluminum and the grips are checkered black G10.

Massachusetts handles handguns through the License to Carry, issued by the police chief in your city or town, and that is the card the dealer must see in person before anything changes hands. There is no waiting period and no separate purchase permit; the dealer runs the federal check and records the transfer through the state portal. The night sights and ambidextrous safety make this the Colt to pick if the pistol will double as a home gun and a range gun.
