Rare 4th Cavalry Marked Colt Single Action Army

Colt Single Action Army, serial 2160, produced in 1874 in .45 Colt with the 7 1/2-inch barrel. This is a Cavalry model: a faint U.S. stamp survives on the left of the frame and the right side carries the unit marking Co K 4 CAV. Condition is rough. The revolver went through a fire and fire scale covers at least half of the metal, the mainspring is gone and the ejector screw is missing.

The 4th Cavalry served in Texas, fighting the Comanche, Kiowa and Cheyenne, and was later moved to Arizona against the Apache, which is what gives this early-serial Colt its interest despite the damage. It is a documented relic for a collector of U.S. martial arms rather than anything to shoot. It transfers through a Massachusetts dealer like any other handgun, so your dealer will need to see a License to Carry in person and log the sale on the state portal before releasing it to you.
