This Weatherby Mark XXII, serial J-27417, was built in Japan in the 1980s. It is a magazine-fed semi-automatic .22 LR with a 24-inch round barrel, a ramped front sight, a dovetailed rear sight and a tang safety, and it comes topped with a Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10 scope. The metal is blued and the deluxe walnut stock carries skip-line checkering, a rosewood forend tip, a grip cap and the original Weatherby pad.
Condition is very good for its age: light handling marks, a small area of speckling on the left side of the stock, light wear on the metal finish and an excellent bore. In Massachusetts a rifle cannot be used for deer anywhere in the Commonwealth, so this is a scoped range and plinking rifle, not a season gun. Because it is semi-automatic, it falls outside what a Firearms Identification card covers, so a License to Carry is the license to bring.
